Michael Carter
The perfect gentleman, superb 2nd bass, ex-Royal Naval Commander and long-time member of the Chorale, Michael Carter passed away recently following a stroke.
Because of a previous stroke, he had stopped singing with the Chorale as a full member at the beginning of this season but had joined us as a Guest Singer to prepare for our concert on May 8th at The Bridgewater Hall.
Subsequently, part of that concert – Karl Jenkins’ Requiem - was dedicated to Michael’s memory.
Michael made significant contributions to the Chorale, not only as a top quality 2nd bass, but also as the resident expert on Russian pronunciation and for many years as Treasurer on the Chorale committee. He also made a point of welcoming every new member into the Chorale, which they much appreciated.
He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and calling him friend. A true gentleman and superb singer.
Our condolences are with his wife and family.
